Another One Bites the Dust

I can't believe that in just a few days it will be 2013!!! This year has just flown by! I have to say that overall, it has been a great year for me.

I went to summer CHA and got to hang out with some old and new scrappy friends.

I attended DragonCon for and made several costumes from scratch both for the first time ever! I am already looking forward to DragonCon again next year.

My girls have grown several inches this year. They are both getting so big way too quick, much to my dismay.

I met an awesome guy at the beginning of this year. I hope to continue to grow our relationship.

I joined the fabulous Scrapbooking from the Inside Out design team. Such a fun and talented bunch of ladies.

I was invited to stay on another year with Webster's Pages. I just adore this team!!! I feel so honored to still be a part of it!

Another fun moment of this year, is that both girls joined dance classes. It's been so neat to see them learn and grow in dance. I can't wait until their big recital in May!!!

Baking Time

For the past week, I have been baking up a storm. So far I have made 4 different kinds and I still have 2 more I want to make this weekend. I am also going to attempt to make sugar cookies from scratch for the first time in a long time.

Many years ago I attempted rolled out sugar cookies for Halloween. They so did not turn out well. I think I put too much baking soda in them because they spread out all over the place. This time around, I am making rolled sugar cookies with the girls. They love to help out in the kitchen. They will probably turn out to be bakers just like their mama.

Since I can't write a post without a picture, here is a layout of one of the pies I made for Thanksgiving. French apple pie - it's a favorite in our household.

Busy Times

The past week I have been busy wrapping gifts, baking Christmas goodies, and scrapping. Even though this time of year can be busy and hectic at times, I absolutely love it! For me, Christmas time is filled with magic and wonder. I can see it in my children's eye when they wake up Christmas morning and see that Santa came. I love building cherished memories with them.

Once the holidays are over and things go back to our normal routine, I'll start back on reading again. My oldest daughter loves to read just as much as I do. I love that I was able to nurture this love. She has her own stack of books she is waiting to read just like her mommy. The best part about reading....getting lost in another time and place.

Special Treat

It was super chilly this morning. No one wanted to get out of bed. On days like this, we sometimes treat ourselves to a tasty Starbucks treat. My favorites are Caramel Machiato, Vanilla Latte, and the Chai Tea Latte. The girls favorite treat are the cake pops they make.

With it being Christmas time, they have been enjoying the Peppermint Brownie cake pops and I have been getting the Caramel Brulee. Oh so scrumptious!

You can defintely tell these girls LOVE their cake pops. You should here them cheer when I say we are going to treat ourselves to Starbucks!

I created this layout with the second new line from Webster's Pages and Allison Kreft. It's one of my favs! Take a peek...

So many fun things happening at the Webster's blog. Make sure you stop by!

Hello December!

It's starting to feel a lot like Christmas! Ok. Maybe not. With the current warm streak we are having it feels more like summer is arriving instead of winter.

Never the less, the house at least looks like Christmas is coming. The lights are strung up outside. The tree is up and decorated. The stockings are hung above the fireplace. Henry, our little elf, has returned. The girls are super excited that he is back!

We took some time last weekend to take our family Christmas picture. I hope to take another one on Christmas Eve when everyone is all fancy and dressed up. I was so happy to capture this photo. I can't believe how big my girls are getting!

This layout was created with the help of the Royal Christmas collection from Webster's Pages. Speaking of Webster's Pages, have you heard the exciting news? Check it out!

The Best Remedy

Sometimes when life throws you a curve ball, you need a little pick me up. Whether I have a bad day at work or I wake up on the wrong foot, I can always count on my girls to put me in a better mood.

You see, they have a way with silly faces and making me laugh when I am feeling down. It's a trait of there's that I love. I can't get enough of it! Speaking of girls and silly faces, I was lucky to capture just that a few weeks ago while taking pictures. I used some of my favorite Webster's Pages products to create this fun and silly layout.

Do you see that red and white strip of tape? I received it in one of my Scrapbooking from the Inside Out kits and can't get enough of it! I have used it on several layouts and plan on using it on several more.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Turkey is in the oven. Pies are on the counter. Sides are waiting to be cooked. Rolls are happily rising and I am taking a short break before the feasting begins to reflect on this past year.

I am thankful for my family. They have done so much for me and continue to do so.

I am thankful for friends who are there for me. Who listen to my woes and thoughts. Who give me advice and much needed hugs.

I am thankful for having a home and the means to take care of my little family.

Here is a tag I created with a few Webster's Pages products along with one of my favorite picture of my girls. It was taken last year. I just can't believe how much they have grown since then!

What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?

Happy gobble gobble day everyone!

Eat Healthy

The holidays are creeping up which means lots of yummy foods! I love all the food at Thanksgiving and all the sweets around Christmas time. I am a sucker for sweet things!

Pretty soon I will be baking all my favorite Christmas cookies to share with my family and friends. I will need to remember to eat something healthy during that time though. That is soooo hard to do when you have all this delicious cookies calling your name but I am determined to try to keep a good balance of sweet and healthy in my household.

As a reminder to eat healthy, I created this layout with the Mindful kit from Scrapbooking From the Inside Out.

MIA No Longer

I was out sick for a bit. It started Halloween night and ended up with me having to go to the doctor for some antibiotics on the following Monday. I ended up with sever chest congestion. It got to the point where I could hardly breathe. If I would have waited a few more days, I probably would have been diagnosed with pneumonia. No fun!

I finally have my energy back and feel like myself again. This weekend I disinfected my entire house and now it looks like my oldest daughter might be coming down with the crud I had. She is coughing and doesn't have much of an appetite. If she gets any worse, I am going to pump her full of Mucinex so that she doesn't get as bad as I did.

While I was sick, my girls were a big help. I know it scares them when mommy is sick. Poor Aryanna kept hoping I would be better soon. Luckily, I now am. This weekend I have been back to crafting. It feels good to create again. Here is a layout I made a few weeks ago with the Best Friends collection from Webster's Pages.

Best Friends

I have the hardest time making friends. I always have as far as I can remember. I think it's part shyness and part introvert. I feel awkward holding a conversation with people I don't know. I end up at a loss for words most of time and come across as a dork.

Every so often I break that barrier and make a life long friend. One such friend has been at my side since 9th grade. I love her to death! She is like a sister I have never had. I would do anything for this girl!

Over at Webster's Pages, they are celebrating their release of their new Best Friends collection. What a perfect way to document my best friend!

I incorporated some of the digital chipboard from the Best Friends collection. I am in love with it!

I am very thankful it's Friday. It's been a long week at work. The great news is that I get to see my best friend this weekend! I am so stinking exciting!

New Adventures

One of the big adventurous I embarked on this year was to make a corset. Or in my case, I made two! I have always loved corsets and a friend of mine said I should make one of my own. They are not very complicated. They are just very time consuming. I was up for the challenge.

At first, I didn't think I was going to be able to create one on my own. I read the instructions and researched various corsetry sites in order to familiarize myself with the sewing processes. The first corset I made was very frustrating. I made a lot of mistakes but in the end, it turned out great even with its little flaws. The second corset was much easier to make and looked awesome! I figured out the correct way to stitch and it made all the difference!

My corsetry journey was a fun one. I am so very happy I embarked on it. It is something I will definitely do again in the future. After all, Halloween comes every year and I love to dress up for it!

I used the lovely Journey kit from Scrapbooking from the Inside Out to create this layout.

Cherish Life

There was a terrible accident in my town yesterday that resulted in a casualty. It made me realize how precious life is. How you never know when your time is up.

All yesterday it made me think about my life and what I felt was important to me. I realized I sometimes take things for granted, but I think all of us do from time to time. I want to change that. I want to cherish all the things in my life. I want to make this the best life that I can live because, well, we only have this one life. With this one life, I have two beautiful little girls who I would do anything for.

Best Friends

Fall has finally arrived even though the weather here can't make up it's mind if it wants to be warm or cold. That's Oklahoma for you. Around here they say, if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes and it will change. So very true!

I wanted to share something new with you guys today. Webster's Pages is showing their new collection this week called Best Friends. It is my favorite collection to date! Then again, all the collections are just so awesome! Ok. I digress. Back to Best Friends. The colors make me smile and the designs...be still my fussy cutting heart! So many fun things to cut out! Oh and there is script paper in here! Yes! I am a sucker for any script paper! Here is a peek of the new collection but you have got to see it up close. You can see all the goodies here.

Now it's time for me to stalk the mailman. I can't wait for my goodie box to arrive so that I can start playing with this new collection!

Let's take a look shall we?

I decided to have a little fun with the Halloween trim and make some googly eyes. They are super simple and a fun addition to a layout or even a spooky card.

Now it's time to visit the super talent Erin! Don't forget to leave a comment before you leave. Some of the blogs have a hidden "treat" that you could win! Make sure to leave a comment on each blog. Any blog on this blog hop could be a "treat" blog! Prizes will be chosen next Friday.

A Difficult Journey

It's October! That means pumpkin carving, costume making, parties, and trick or treating! It is one of my favorite months of the year! Since it's a new month, it also means that there is a new kit from Scrapbooking from the Inside Out! Yay! This month's theme is journey.

One of the journeys I documented was about my weight. I have struggled with it over the past several years. I made great strides 3 years ago. I was 210 lbs. It took me two years but I managed to lose 37lbs. It was a lot of hard work and I was so proud of myself for losing all that weight. I actually felt good about my body for once. As all things go, we fall back into bad habits. I ended up gaining back 11 of those pounds in a year's time. Not good. Not good AT ALL! I am scared I am going to get back to the weight I once was at. Never again! I do not want that! I want to be healthy not just for myself but for my kids. I want to be here for them so it's time for a change.

I am cooking healthy meals and starting up exercising again. To make it fun, I downloaded the Map My Walk app for my phone. The girls love it! We go for walks right after work and they love to see our route, how far we walked, and how many calories we burned. The plan is to walk until it gets too cold outside. Once that happens, we will have to start the exercising DVDs. I documented this journey of mine so I don't forget it and to not lose hope.

No Picture Needed

Every once in a blue moon, I don't have the right picture for a layout. I sift through all my pictures on file and still nothing seems to fit the topic I want to convey. So I decide to just skip it and to not use a picture at all.

I will be the first to admit that it feels really weird to scrap a layout without a picture but it is also very refreshing at the same time. This allows my journaling to be the main star of the layout. In this case, it allows my journaling to voice what it needs to without a picture to distract the viewer.

(Layout created with the Innocence kit from Scrapbooking from the Inside Out.)

So don't be afraid. Take the challenge and scrap a layout without a picture. I bet you will feel just as refreshed as I did when I created mine.

Fall Already?

I am looking forward to Saturday. It is the first official day of Fall! I am going to celebrate by baking a couple of pies and sharing it with friends and family. I am already looking forward to Thanksgiving and all the food! Some of the Turkey day items are only made once a year so I am really looking forward to those. So far this year has been a good one. In a few short months it will be 2013. To me it feels like we just ventured into 2012. Why is it when you become an adult, time flies by but as a kid it just crawls at a snail's pace? Oh how I would love to have time slow down again!

Over at Webster's Pages, we got to do something fun this month. We got to lift another design team member. I was inspired by Julie Walton and her use of clustering. Here is my take on clustering.

Here is a fun little embellishment I made. I layered a doily from In Love, trim from Once Upon a Halloween, and the star is from one of the Royal Christmas papers.

Royal Christmas

In 3 months Christmas will be upon us. Every year I tell myself I am going to shop early for presents and I am going to stick with it this year by golly! It is no fun having to scramble at the last minute to get the coveted gift that my kids want. To get ahead of the game this year, I have started to keep a list of the toys and things my kids have oh'd and ah'd over. I am on a mission and I WILL accomplish it!

Speaking of Christmas, have you stopped by the Webster's Pages blog this week? If not, you should! They are sharing some projects with the new Royal Christmas line that is shipping soon! Here is my layout about one of Aryanna's first handmade ornaments.

I just love these new flowers!

A Perfect Match

I am loving the cooler weather we've had over the past week. It has been so nice to go outside and have a cool breeze instead of a hot sweltering one! Pretty soon I will be spending lots of my time in the kitchen baking all sorts of yummy goodies. Of course, that also means I will need to start exercising again so I can partake of said goodies.

Speaking of goodies, I played with some of my older Lily Bee papers and some of the new Webster's Pages papers. I love how the two companies blend so well together! This page came together in no time!

Make sure to stop by the Scrapbooking from the Inside Out blog. I have a post up today. You can see it here.

Lots of fun things planned this weekend like scrapping and a road trip. Normally I would be glad for the rain, but I just hope it stays away this weekend so that we can go to the State Fair.

Innocence

I can't believe it's September already! You know what that means... The new Scrapbooking from the Inside Out kit is for sale!

This month's theme is Innocence. This was a hard topic for me to explore, but I am happy to have some of these thoughts on paper. One of my favorite layouts I did with this kit was this one.

It is a very simple layout but my goal was to have the photos and journaling be the start. In this layout I talk about how I don't want my girls to lose their innocent ways any time soon. In today's age, kids grow up way too fast don't you agree?

Instagram Love

Life happens every second of the day. If you are not careful, you will miss the small details that make your life grand. Many of us scrappers have a nice fancy camera with fancy lenses in order to take the perfect shot to use on a scrapbook page. I am the same way, but lately I am embracing the camera on my handy dandy phone more and more often.

I normally have my phone on me where ever I go so it is easy to grab it and snap a picture of a fleeting moment I do not want to miss. Camera phones are also great for taking photos of yourself. This is how I got the picture for my Cosplay Fun layout. I personally prefer to use Instagram but I know there are lots of other fun phone apps you can use. Four of my layouts for Scrapbooking from the Inside Out this month have pictures I took with my phone. Most of the time they require no editing and I can print them out as is.

Today I challenge you to leave your big bulky camera at home and only use your phone camera to capture the life around you. You just might be amazed at what you will find!
